Queen's Baton Relay Visits Seaham

On Thursday 14th July, 2022, County Durham will officially welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay which brings together and celebrates communities across the Commonwealth nations during the build up to the Games. The Baton visits all 72 nations and territories on its 294-day long journey to every corner of the Commonwealth.


As part of their route the convoy will travel to Seaham. With the procession starting at North Terrace, heading past the Tommy statue which was recently voted UK's best piece of outdoor artwork in a 2021 Sky Arts poll before ending at Vane Tempest Car Park.


Members of the public are encouraged to get involved with the celebrations and embrace the arrival of the Baton, taking the opportunity to experience the buzz of Birmingham 2022 in their community.
